Transport for Greater Manchester have announced that the new Trafford Park tram line will open soon, on Sunday 22nd March.
The expansion sees the addition of six new stops along the route, bringing the total number of stops to 99.
These new stops include the Imperial War Museum North and intu Trafford Centre.
Transport for Greater Manchester’s Chief Executive, Eamonn Boylan, said: “A project of this size and scale is a huge undertaking and we are pleased at how smoothly it’s come together, meaning we’re opening the line much sooner than we anticipated.”
This new line looks to be the first step in Greater Manchester’s progress towards a London-style transport system.
Launched in June 2019, ‘Our Network’ is a ten-year plan to create an accessible public network, of which further Metrolink extensions and the introduction of tram-train are focal points.
According to official estimates, the project has been delivered approximately seven months earlier than originally planned.
