A group of volunteers in Salford are coming together to help tidy up a well-loved park.
Ordsall Park, on Trafford Road, is adored by dog-walkers and has a range of leisure facilities including an astro-turf pitch and a bowling green and pavillion.
It is getting cleaned up as part of the Great British spring clean-up project.
Litter-pickers will begin their difficult task on March 28 in the hope of sprucing up the park ready for the summer season.
Visitors to the park are well used to the park being a mess as, unfortunately, it seems to be a haven for litter.
The friends of Ordsall park group try to organise monthly tidy-ups in the park although lack of volunteers can make this difficult.
Chair of the group Andy Schaller-Williams will be hoping that with the help of a national project, there will be alot more volunteers lending a hand.
The Great British spring clean is a national project taking place between March 20 and April 13 and so far has 468,299 volunteers on board nationwide, although this is expected to rise before
the project starts.
According to the website, the Great British spring clean up aims to “help to transform our country for the better, creating cleaner streets, parks and beaches, protecting our wildlife and,
ultimately, stopping the tide of plastic that is doing so much damage to our oceans and marine life.”
