Salford Red Devils will be looking to add some stability to their recent form this week when they face up against mid-table Leeds Rhinos at the AJ Bell stadium on Saturday.
The Devils have had a slow start to the Super League season, with a solid comeback in the final stages of their last match ending in a 24-16 result at home against Toronto Wolfpack, being their only win out of three matches so far this season.
Salford Red Devils will be without half-back Kevin Brown for the visit of the Rhinos, as the RFL have imposed a two-match ban on him following on from being sin-binned last week against his former club, Huddersfield Giants, for a headbutt on opposing centre, Jordan Turner.
The RFL deemed the incident to be a grade C offence.
The Rhinos come into the match having won one and lost one of their opening two games, scoring a total of 56 points and conceding 40, indicating a fairly steady start to the season for the Yorkshiremen, as Super League fans would expect from the 11-time division winners.
Salford will be looking to emulate their play-off place success of last season, where they finished 3rd in the league, into this season of the Betfred Super League.
Only by beating the traditionally stronger teams, such as Leeds Rhino’s, will they be able to do so.
With many changes in the squad from last season, most notably losing star scrum-half Jackson Hastings to the Wigan Warriors, Ian Watson and his men may find it a harder task this year than last.
The Rhinos will be hoping to improve on last season’s performance, where they finished in a rather uninspiring eighth place in the league.
Kick-off is at 2pm at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday February 22.
