Salford City host Plymouth Argyle tonight in their EFL League Two clash at the Peninsula Stadium.
Salford are only three days removed from their last match, a frustrating 0-0 draw with Crawley last Saturday.
Salford manager Graham Alexander was full of praise for his sides performance against Crawley, but wanted his team to be more clinical in front of goal.
“I thought the players were excellent. We got into some real good areas creating real good chances. Its a 9/10 performance, if you get the goal then that’s the perfect one but we didn’t”.
Salford’s home form this season has been mixed. They have found more success on the road than at home. Their home form would see them lie 17th in the league, whereas their away form would mean they would be in a play-off position in 5th.
“We need to try and improve our goal scoring at home”, says Alexander.
“Unfortunately here we just cant find that golden touch at the moment, but its not through a lack of trying or a lack of good play”.

‘The Ammies’ will need to be at their best tonight if they are to defeat Plymouth, who are currently 4th in the league. But Salford will feel optimistic that they can defeat the Southside club, after coming off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Colchester last Saturday.
“We’re going to have to recuperate from the exertions, because we know we have a tough game Tuesday against a very good team,” says Alexander.
“We’ve got to make sure we replicate as much from that performance [against Crawley] as possible. We’re going to have to defend with good discipline like we did, but try and create all the opportunities we did, and when they come along we’ve just got to get that clinical touch and take them”.
After a busy transfer window, signing the likes of James Wilson, Bruno Andrade and Darren Gibson as well as five other new signings, Alexander will hope Salford’s transfer business will push his side closer to the play-off promotion places which they are currently seven points off.
The two sides drew the reverse fixture earlier this season 2-2 at Plymouth’s Home Park stadium in August.
A victory over Plymouth tonight will certainly boost the feeling around the Peninsula stadium of a place in the play-off places come May.
