A group of volunteers from Eccles are trying to get together to enter a float into the 2020 Manchester Pride Carnival procession.
Eccles were first represented at Manchester Pride in 2016 but have struggled to find the volunteers needed to put a float together since then.
Jon is part of the Eccles Pride organisation and he said: “We all worked, breathed, ate, and slept to get a float into the Manchester Pride Parade to represent the diversity of Eccles not just LGBTQ but cultural diversity as well.
“The group has stayed alive on here in the hope it pulls out the people of Eccles and surrounding area to stand on a committee and hold the rainbow high.
“It would need to be more than the 6 or 7 key people (that did it last time).”
In 2016, Bakestone Eccles Cakes supported the float and Jon is hoping they will do the same this year too.
This year, volunteers are wanted on Saturday February 8 to help start making preparations.
Manchester Gay Pride weekend has been taking place every year since 1985 and involves the streets of Manchester being lit up in rainbow colours and filled with dancers and singers from Mayfield to Deansgate.
This years event takes place on August Bank Holiday weekend, between August 28 and August 31.
