Chris Brown, a member of the Cricket Club committee, spoke about the excitmenet the signings have added to the club and what they are going to bring to the side,
“We have gone for the two New Zealand lads, it adds a good bit of buzz around the club. The kids love it and they will be apart of the coaching program.”
Chris said the club is also hopeful that the two signings will be able to add a lot to the junior sides and be a great role model for them coming through the ranks,
“They will not only play but they are brought into the club to develop our juniors. Hopefully some of our juniors will make it into the first team this year and get to play with these guys and learn from them first hand.”
He added: “We have got to grow the club organically, the two new lads will help with that and engage the juniors and go and watch them on the Saturday and Sunday. If they stick with them we can grow a stronger senior section. For the years to come. Having these lads in inspires the juniors to see you can play at a high level.”
When speaking about what the two lads will add to the senior side, Chris said their difference of quality will be a huge boost,
“We want players of different quality to contribute in first team games. Just as important as player is them as a coach is them helping the juniors and coaching the juniors.”
This is a huge announcement by the Monton Cricket Club and has added a huge amount of excitment for their upcoming season.
