“The biggest event we’ve ever had” – Monton-based music and dance school hosts Christmas concert for young people

As part of the Anthem Music School, they love to give their students the opportunity to perform together and to play something they’ve been working on in their lessons with their twice yearly showcases.

These are open to all students to take part in, young and old, beginner and virtuoso. Concerts take place at Media City in Salford Quays.

They host a yearly Christmas concert to give young people a stage to perform to their best of abilities.

Kat Stephenson, from Anthem Dance School, Monton, said ” The basis of why we do the concerts is to build confidence, and to help them to start performing music, they do live performances and gigs from an early age.

“We like to get them used to live music and loud noises from a young age, there is lights and smoke, it just gives them a sense of confidence and gives them a leg up, in terms of passion for music. It gives them so much confidence in what they do.”

The children perform live on stage in front of many parents. They get the chance to show off skills and perform live in front of hundreds of people.

Kat added: “We work hard to make it interesting for the kids, we tend to offer weekly lessons where we offer many different instruments for people to learn, such as drums, guitar, singing and piano, mainly focusing on the rock school sylabus.

“When it comes down to about two weeks before the show, we offer rock school workshops which are 45 minute sessions offered on Sundays, which help them practice, get used to the sound, do some stage moves. It’s very performance focused based and we think that this helps them, if they see their teachers doing some crazy moves, learning all the parts and this gives them the push that they need to perform well during the performance.

“The Christmas gig was our biggest one yet, we usually have 170 people and this one was 200 kids, loads of friends and family where in attendance. We sold much more than what we expected.”

“More people are coming because we are getting such a good reputation, all of our Facebook posts have been well received and people react to them and get in touch. The shows give us a good reputation as well. There is always passion in our kids and our shows

“Its definitely the best Christmas gift for our children, we also offer vouchers for four lessons to get them started and then they can start to learn to perform like the kids did on Monday.”

The school offers weekly group music classes, rock school workshops and an epic performance opportunity. It also provides small group tuition for children aged 3 and over, and adults too.
