After being plagued with financial problems for over a year, work has finally resumed on X1 The Gateway in Salford.
Construction was abandoned when Bolton-based contractor Forrest collapsed in December last year, owing its subcontractors and suppliers more than £28 million.
It’s unclear how much damage the building has suffered after being left without glass panels for over 15 months.
Builders have been spotted onsite at the tower block this week, comprising of 191 luxury apartments.
Liverpool-based construction company Vermont has since taken over construction of the development.
A Vermont construction worker, told Salford Now: “The old construction company went bust last year, but we are here now to finish the job.
“First, we’re replacing the remaining glass panels left behind from the previous construction company.”
Forrest’s former finance director, Matthew Farrimond, was jailed last summer for siphoning off nearly £370,000 from the company during his time in charge.
He was jailed for four years at a Bolton Crown Court hearing in June last year.
Real Estate Developer, Knight Knox, tells Salford Now: “Construction is now due to be complete by April or May next year”.
