The Luckiest Guy Alive, which was released last year, is Clarke’s first publication in more than 30 years. The poems draw on Clarke’s experience of growing up in Salford, amongst other themes, to create witty pieces of satire and social commentary throughout.
In a recent interview Elton John cited Clarke as one of his favorite poets.
Dr Clarke previously worked as a laboratory technician at Salford Tech before he found success as a poet.
One of his most famous pieces, ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ was recorded by Sheffield indie band, Arctic Monkeys, who Clarke joined on stage during their sell-out tour last year.
