Manchester Originals player Jos Buttler spoke of the positive effect the new Hundred tournament will have on young, local cricket players in the region.
Speaking in a press conference after the draft last night, the England cricketer said: “Parkinson and Saqib could be Manchester Originals players for years.”
Manchester Originals is the only North West team competing in the new tournament, and as one of England’s centrally contracted players, Buttler was already placed in the squad prior to the draft.
Buttler praised the squad selection for it’s youthful character, saying: “if you look at our side, you’ve got a lot of guys in their young twenties.”
“I think it’s fantastic to see all the coaches and staff looking at it in that way.”

The Hundred is a brand new tournament with eight teams from around the UK competing in a game of hundred balls.
The shorter form allows the matches to be broadcast on terrestrial television, with the BBC owning the rights to broadcast a selection throughout the competition.
Buttler said: “It’s great for us that we now have that platform in England. All these games on TV, young guys can make a name for themselves.”
