Salford Red Devils star Jackson Hastings has been named in the 24 man GBR Lions squad after an impressive season for the Northern side.
The call up comes as a silver lining for Hastings after his fairy tale run in the Super League Grand final was brought to an end by an impressive St Helens side 23-6 at the weekend.
Australian-born,Hastings who was recently named the prestigious Steve Prescott ‘Man of Steel’ qualifies to represent the Lions because of his Grandmother who is off British descent, having been born in Plymouth.
Team mate Joshua Jones who also earned the nod from the selectors following his important contributions to the Reds.

The section comes as no surprise to some fans after receiving an impressive 13 man of the match awards from 35 appearances this season alone. The 23 year old was also named the first winner of the Fans’ Entertainer award, voted for by supporters as well as the Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters’ Player of the Year.
The 24 man squad lead by skipper James Graham will see the Lions compete in 4 matches with the opening game set for 26 October against Tonga, before going head to head with New Zealand in two matches. The Lions will then conclude on 16 November with a tie vs Papua New Guinea.
