Salford City have announced the signing of goalkeeper Kyle Letheren on a one-year-deal, following his release from Plymouth Argyle.
The 31-year-old has played for a number of clubs in the Football League throughout his career, most notably over two spells at Home Park with League 2 Plymouth Argyle.
The experienced goalkeeper also has experience winning silverware, securing the FA Trophy during a successful spell with York City, and a Scottish Championship title with Dundee.
Letheren joins up with the Ammies ahead of their first season in the Football League, and will provide much needed experience in the dressing room.
The Welshman, who has been capped at youth level for his country, spoke of his excitement at joining such an up and coming club.
“I’m delighted to be here first and foremost, it’s something that I’ve known about for quite some time now but I’m just delighted to get it over the line, I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait for the season to get started.
“As soon as I knew about the interest, obviously I knew of the promotions in the last few years, we’ve got ambitious owners and I’m an ambitious person myself so it was a no-brainer for me really.
“It’s just the ambition of the place to be honest, obviously the club are on an upwards spiral like everybody knows, and I think Salford’s on the lips of everybody at the minute.”
Letheren also spoke of his ambitions with Salford, with the former Barnsley and Blackpool man not holding back on his aims for back to back promotions.
“I think this year, obviously you’ve gained three or four promotions back-to-back and that can be a deadly thing at times because you’ve got momentum.
“I’ve spoken with the Gaffer and that’s what he wants this season as well, he doesn’t want to change that, so I think we’ve got to aim for play-offs minimum and hopefully we can get this club into League One because if it does I think it’ll just take off again to be honest.”
Salford City are next in action at home on Friday in a pre-season friendly against Woking, where Letheren could make his Ammies debut between the sticks. Kick off is 7;30PM at the Peninsula Stadium.
