Langworthy Road in Salford has been cordoned off following a “major police incident”.
Police say the area is a crime scene and unconfirmed reports suggest there has been a shooting.
Witnesses say the area has been cordoned off since around 2.30pm and describe hearing a “big bang” and seeing a car with smashed windows.
Eccles New Road is currently closed at the junction with Langworthy Road, according to Transport for Greater Manchester.
Stagecoach say the 50 bus will be diverted as the bridge over the M602 may be closed until 23.59pm tonight.
