Sale Sharks put in an impressive performance to pick up a 32-5 bonus point victory in the Gallagher Premiership.
Tries from Bryn Evans, Denny Solomona, Valery Morozov, Josh Beaumont, Faf de Klerk and a penalty try were enough to see their side over the line
The win now means that they move into the Champions’ Cup places heading into a break next weekend.
Sale recovered strongly after falling behind after seven minutes as Leicester prop, Facundo Gigena appeared to ground the ball after a review by the TMO.
Following the nervy start, the hosts played some smart rugby and began to put pressure back on their opponents.
Jono Ross and his men were rewarded for their hard work as second-row Evans went over off the back of a close-range scrum.
With the scores level and momentum in Sale’s favour, they continued to control the game and five minutes after the first try, winger Denny Solomona added the Sharks’ second as he crashed over in the corner to take a well-deserved lead.
The home side didn’t look back from that moment and quickly turned a 10-5 half-time lead into a 15-5 one as prop Morozov scored his first try in Sale colours – crashing over after spending a lengthy period on the Tigers’ line.
Things went from bad to worse for Leicester as they had to play the remaining 24 minutes without Sione Kalamafoni as the number eight was shown a red card by referee Matthew Carley for a dangerous move out.
Sale took full advantage of the extra man and continued to test the Leicester defence and Beaumont went over to collect the bonus point for his team.
However, the Sharks weren’t finished as South African, de Klerk and crashed over before a penalty try was scored to rub more salt into Leicester wounds.
Sale Sharks’ next outing will be a trip to St James’ Park to play the Newcastle Falcon in ‘The Big One’ on Saturday 23rd March.
