90’s fitness icon Derrick Evans, better known as Mr. Motivator is coming to MediaCity this March for a fun-packed workout session suitable for all ages and abilities.
Born in Manchester, Jamaica, Mr. Motivator moved to Leicester in the UK at the age of 9 and rose to fame by performing live fitness sessions and giving advice to people on the UK breakfast television show GMTV.
His fitness sessions consisted of him dressing in super tight-fitting and colourful spandex whilst motivating people! That turned out to be a huge hit with Mr. Motivator then releasing a number of workout videos during the 90’s.
After leaving GMT and going back to Jamaica in 2000 due to his daughter’s health issues, he started his own tourism business, called H’Evans Scent that offered activities such as ziplining and paintballing.
At the same time he continued to make appearances at UK events and creating his fitness videos.
Now, almost three decades since he first started his motivating journey, Mr. Motivator is coming to MediaCity.
Joined by the BBC Philharmonic, he will come to the Piazza in MediaCity on March 22nd, with the session being held from 12:15pm to 1:30pm. The best part of all of this is that he will be giving out a prize for the best Lycra.
