1/2 It is with great sadness that we have to announce our treasurer and long time member, Harold Kershner, passed away yesterday. Our thoughts are with his Wife, Family and Friends today. Harold was a gentle, kind person who dedicated much of his life to helping others

They said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce our treasurer and long time member, Harold Kershner, passed away yesterday. Our thoughts are with his Wife, Family and Friends today. Harold was a gentle, kind person who dedicated much of his life to helping others.”
“He volunteered in many roles across Salford and used his experiences to help both charities, community organisations and groups. He will truly be missed.”
Mr Kershner was an accountant by trade, but was also very active in his community, standing in the local elections several times as a Liberal Democrat in Kersal. While he was never elected to the city council, that didn’t stop him helping his community.
He was also active in the Jewish community, as he once had roles as President of Manchester Great and New Synagogue, and was a trustee of the Jewish Cultural Centre.
Very sad news indeed RIP Harold.

Dan Steers, of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust said, “Harold was genuinely someone who would put others before himself, right up until when he became ill last week, he was still going out and getting involved with the work he loved to do.
“He will be gravely missed by all the members of the forum and the wider community in Salford.”
One tribute online said: “Harold would always give his time for others and has influenced the improvement of both the council and CCG services over the many years he was involved with many boards and groups. He will be sadly missed.’
Another tribute on Salford Mental Health Forum’s Facebook page read, “Lovely caring man, always a giver never a taker, true son of Salford.”
