The Ceremonial Mayor and Mayoress of Salford will host a Masquerade Ball at Buile Hill Park on 2nd March to raise money for charities across the region.
It is custom that all Mayors chose their own charities to support whilst in office, and Ronnie and Patricia Wilson have followed the tradition by choosing the Salford Birth Centre Appeal, Singing With Dementia, Salford Children’s Holiday Camp and the Ceremonial Mayors Community Chest.
Both the Mayor and the Mayoress have made many visits to community groups, church services to mark 100 years since World War One ended, and hosted many fundraising events for their four chosen causes.
Ronnie and Patricia Wilson became Ceremonial Mayor and Mayoress in May 2018 after serving as Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Salford in 2017.
Ronnie said: “The ball itself is always at the end of the mayoral year.
“We have has a lot of fun, we have enjoyed being with the community.”
Members of the public have already shown community support prior to the ball by donating numerous items, including a painting from Salford artist Harold Riley.
Patricia Wilson, the Ceremonial Mayoress, said she loved the work that the people of Salford do for their community.
“There are hundreds and hundreds of community workers it’s brilliant… it’s what makes the city great, people are open to everybody.
“We want to show people their worth, how important they are to the city and they are tremendously important.”
A choir from Salford City College will be performing at the event which the Ceremonial Mayor is looking forward to.
“We went to a Christmas dinner where they performed so we have seen them live before, they are very good and very professional. It’s good to involve the students.”
The event will have a silent auction and a normal auction to raise money for the causes.
Tickets to the ball are £35, this includes reception drinks, a 3 course dinner and a disco late into the night at Buile Hill Banqueting Suite, Buile Hill Park.
