Buggy Movers, an exercise group with a difference, has been set up for new parents in the Salford area to allow them to socialise and keep fit while taking care of their children.
The group is completely free and operates on three different routes around Salford where parents can walk, jog or run with their children in prams.
Life Centre and Salford CVS have provided specially adapted running prams for the parents to use.
Karen who runs the group explained what it was
Buggy Movers is all about improving health and wellbeing in new parents and it gives them a chance to socialise with other parents who are struggling to find time to go out while caring for their child.
Melanie Disley, a parent who goes to Buggy Movers with her son, said: “I found out about it on an app called MUSH which is like facebook for mums.”
Rachel Morris, who runs the group alongside Karen, said she sees a real difference in people. “You can see when they come in and see they are really nervous and then they kinda get into it and then some people apply that to other parts of their lives,” she said.
The group runs every week on Mondays at St. Philips Church, Chapel Street, at 10am and on Wednesdays at the Energise Centre, Broughton, at 9.15am and Langworthy Cornerstone at 11am.
