The Red Box Project is hosting a Tea and Tampons event at Irlam and Cadishead Community College to raise money and gather donations to provide free sanitary products to women in the area.
The project is working with schools across Salford to end period poverty by collecting and donating sanitary products to those girls and women in need.
The event on November 17 aims to raise some funds to help keep the Red Box Project running through a social morning with coffee and cake.
The Tea and Tampons event is seeking donations of underwear in ages 9-12/sizes 8-20, sanitary pads, tampons, disposable sanitary products and red storage boxes between 20 litres and 30 litres. Small monetary donations are also welcome.
The red boxes are delivered by ‘fairies’ who use their own free time and transport to take them to the schools, colleges and youth centres for the girls to use.

Elaine Kenny, deputy chief officer of Salford Citizens Advice Bureau, said: “It is great that the donations come from the community to support young women in the area. “It allows young girls to know where to get these products if they need the support.” Tea and Tampons welcomes anyone to the event who wants to make a difference to the young women of Salford.
