This may bank holiday sees the return of Salford’s much loved festival Sounds From The Other City, which is dotted around various venues in the city.

The festival is coming to Salford on Sunday 6th May.

Returning to Salford for it’s 14th year, the festival is teaming up with some of the North West’s best music promoters.

Explaining the benefits of keeping the festival in Salford, SFTOC organiser Rivica Burns said:

“I think it has been really important for growing the reputation of the area and providing a platform for the community in and around Chapel St to come together to really show what we can do.

”Over the years, the area has changed significantly with more and more activity and spaces which is incredible to see.

”SFTOC is a celebration of this and it’s a big day out in Salford after all.”

The festival is taking place across a variety of venues around the heart of Salford.

Each venue is hosted by it’s own individual promoter who organise their own lineup.

With over 100 acts on the bill, the city of Salford will be bustling with new talent.

A headline set from the London based band Goat Girl, is set to be one of the favourite performances from the festival.

Their grungy tones and sleazy vocals will provide a show stopping set.

When it comes to the festivals main aims, they are all about promoting new music and the net big bands.

With alumni such as Sampha, the festival is proven to be a spring board for artists looking to get recognition.

Speaking of the festivals aims, Rivica explained:

“Our main aim when it began 14 years ago was to provide a platform for promoters to showcase the best music that they were excited about in what was, at that point, a relatively unknown area.

”We are the Other City and very proud of that so obviously that’s a brilliant outcome and we are breathing more and more life to the area.

”Our aim is to provide a platform of discovery, excitement and fun for everyone from venue to artist to audience.”

Sounds from the other city takes place this bank holiday weekend. Tickets are available here.
