FLAPPER dresses and Charleston music combined to rekindle the spirit of the Roaring Twenties at a Great Gatsby ball to raise money for Salford charities.
Ceremonial Mayor of Salford Peter Connor hosted Friday’s glamorous event in aid of The Andrew Cooke Music Award Trust and Memorial Fund, Start – Inspiring Minds, Emmaus – Salford, Kidscan, Feryal Rajah Educational Trust and Ceremonial Mayor’s Community Chest.

The ball is an annual event with a different theme each year and this year’s theme was the Great Gatsby.
Mr. Connor said this about why he choose the Great Gatsby theme; “The Great Gatsby theme was an idea of my Mayoress, my daughter-in-law Claire Connor and it’s a great one. There is quite a few people arrived looking Gatsby tonight.”

Everyone was wearing their best dresses and suits, they also walked down the red carpet and took a picture with the Ceremonial Mayor before entering the ball.
The ball was located at The Lighthouse Venue.
The ball included; food, drinks, live entertainment and a dance floor for everyone to enjoy.
Mr Connor first joined the Salford City Council in 1990 and has been apart of the Salford City Council ever since.
The Mayoress, Marry Connor, said the following about her husband, the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford; “The whole idea of being the Mayor and working the way we do is for the benefit for the people of Salford and to collect for charity.”
