Only two points clear of the drop zone: Salford must get a result against top spot chasers Wigan who are hoping to close the gap between them and first place ST Helens whereas the reds are looking to extend the gap between themselves and Widnes who currently sit in 9th place.
Ian Watson’s Salford do not want a repeat of the last time these two sides met in the league back in early February, it was a game to forget for the reds as they suffered a humiliating 12-40 defeat to their Lancashire rivals in front of a home crowd at the AJ Bell Stadium.
After two successive victories prior their previous game Salford are looking to bounce back after their 10-60 home defeat to league leaders ST Helens last Thursday in a game where the Saints ran riot against a Salford side that struggled to contain the league leaders.
Salford need to return to winning ways as they enter into their last 11 games of the season to avoid falling further in the league, a victory on Friday could be a turning point in their season and could help push them higher up the table.
