SALFORD Red Devils are back in action this week in the Betfred Super League facing Wakefield Trinity with the Red Devils hoping to string together a run of wins.

Where and When?

Friday 20th April, 8pm at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Last Time Out

Salford, who won their first away game in 11 months after a 30-12 victory over Huddersfield Giants, will be hoping to go level on points with seventh place Trinity.

Mark Flanagan and Ben Nakubuwai touched down inside the opening quarter while Weller Hauraki’s second-half score and Jake Bibby’s late brace sealed a comfortable victory for Ian Watson’s men.

Wakefield managed to condemn top of the table St Helens to their second defeat of the season after a 24-20 win.

Chris Chester’s side blitzed Saints with four tries in 18 minutes from Ben Jones-Bishop, Reece Lyne, Justin Horo and Bill Tupou.

Form

Salford find themselves in ninth, one place and two points behind Wakefield, with three wins from their last six outings. March saw the Red Devils win one from five, with only a win over bottom of the table Catalan Dragons to celebrate.

Wakefield’s win over St. Helens on Sunday was their first in over a month, following a spell of narrow defeats at the hands of Hull FC and Leeds Rhinos.

Setting the Scene

In the reverse fixture back in February, Wakefield narrowly defeated the Red Devils 14-12 after Gareth O’Brien missed a last-minute conversion after Trinity defended resiliently for 80 minutes. Another high stakes game involving the two sides back in September ended in an emphatic 18-43 victory to Trinity in the Super 8s, which Ian Watson described as an “embarrassment.”

Team News

Salford could be without prop Lee Mossop for Friday’s clash after the 29 year old limped off at the 69 minute mark in Sunday’s victory, other than that there are no fresh injury concerns.

Wakefield have no fresh injury concerns for Fridays game.
