Seven Bro7hers Brewery, Salford will host a reunion of the 1997 squad to celebrate 21 years of Salford RLFC in Super League.
The event hosted by the Salford RLFC Trust will take place on the 21st of April at the brewery which is owned by former Salford player Nathan McAvoy.
It will also see the relaunch of the Salford RLFC Ex Players Association by Chairman Mick Henighan.
The evening will contain footage, interviews and music, taking fans and players back to 1997.
1997 was an important year for Salford after they were promoted to the Super League after two magical seasons claiming the championship in both the Centenary Season and the 1996 summer season.
Combining the experience of senior players such as Andy Platt, John Cartwright, David Hulme and Paul Forber and the young talent of Ian Watson, Nathan McAvoy, Darren Rogers and Gary Broadbent, the team worked well and the club were on a high.
Known as the Super League II, the club managed by Andy Gregory finished sixth and also reached the semi finals of the Challenge Cup before being beat by St Helens.
In an article by Paul Whiteside on the Salford RLFC Supporters Trust website, he said: “The club were riding the crest of a wave, crowds were on the up and the buzz about The Willows was amazing. As well as the two great League campaigns our Challenge Cup victory over Wigan in February 1996 had given coach Andy Gregory and his squad the belief to push on to the next level”.
