MANCHESTER Central host bottom club Westbury Sports Club in the Manchester League Division One at The Manchester College on Saturday (KO 15:00).
After a convincing 6-1 victory last weekend against Chapel Town, Manchester Central will be looking to continue their newly found good form in a bid to earn promotion to the Manchester League Premier Division.
Central manager, Paul McGuire, told the clubs’ YouTube channel: “We did say before the game on Saturday that the season needs to start now.
“We need to kick on and start getting some good performances and good wins, so we look forward to playing Westbury on Saturday.
“Last week [in training we did a lot of finishing [drills], we did a good attacking drill and it paid off with six goals, we’re in good shape.”

The historic Manchester club have been in poor away form this season, losing all four of their away trips, but will look to rectify that when they make the short trip to The Manchester College, a makeshift venue as Westbury’s Wellington Barracks pitch has been deemed unplayable due to weather conditions.
Central find themselves in the perfect position to break their away curse, as Westbury Sports Club have lost all five of their home matches this season, but, despite Westbury technically being the home side, the venue will be relatively unfamiliar to both sets of players.
**FIXTURE CHANGE**
Our scheduled away fixture to @Westburyopenage will now be played on 3G @TheMcrCollege Nichols Campus, Hyde Road, Ardwick, M12 6BA. Due to the Barracks being unplayable.

McGuire added: “We’ve not been beaten at home.
“I think we’ve pretty much won every home game in the league. We’ve done alright, but we need to kick on now.”
Despite sitting in mid-table, Central are still in with a very good chance of promotion as they sit just six points behind second place Chapel Town with three games in hand over them.
McGuire said: “Realistically, I think Beechfield are probably the best team in the league this year.
“Six or nine points would see us up in second or third.
“I think the likes of us and the rest are playing for second which would be enough to get promoted.”
Last time the two sides met, Muhammad Saeed bagged a first half brace as Central ran out 4-0 victors at Ten Acres Lane.
Westbury Sports Club will be looking to shock the division and help out Central’s rivals with a win on Saturday.
But the odds seem to be against the home side as Central will look to prove to their manager that they can challenge for a spot in the Manchester League’s top division.
