MEDIACITYUK will play host to the Jingle Bell Jog this Sunday, on December 3, where racers will come dressed as Christmas characters and take part in a three and a half kilometre fun run.
The organisation Sports Tours International has organised the event as a healthy and active way of getting into the Christmas spirit, with no times recorded and all being welcome to take part.
Kevin Harmer, of Sports Tours International, stated in an interview with Quays News that: “We have got an official charity partner called ‘Dreams Come True’, who raise money for young children and adults with life-limiting or terminal illnesses to have an experience of a lifetime.
“We are pleased and proud of the job that we do and we have only ever received positive feedback from people so we are delighted to keep putting on these events.”
Runners will leave their starting point at the BBC Offices at 10:30am and will complete the three and a half kilometre course which passes through The Lowry Outlet Mall, past The Imperial War Museum, and over the Manchester Ship Canal, before finishing in a Christmassy-themed MediaCityUK.
People can feel free to take the course at a leisurely pace or, if they are more serious fun-runners, can use the ‘flat and fast’ course to find their personal best.
Every finisher of the Jingle Bell Jog will receive a commemorative Christmas medal while all ‘little finishers’ will receive a selection box.
Santa suits, that can be worn for the run, will be available at the Studio at MediaCityUK, on the first floor of the Mezzanine, between November 30 and December 1 from 11:00am to 3:00pm, however some suits will be offered on the day at Race HQ.
Mr Harmer said: “There will be about 500 or 600 people, which is a record for us, dressed up as Father Christmas, Christmas elves, and reindeer who will be taking on a short route on either side of the river which will be about three and a half kilometres in distance.”
“There’s a variety of people taking part, from children and youngsters in buggies right up to mums, dads, grannies, and granddads.”
Entertainment will be on show at the start and finish lines whilst photography and videography will be underway throughout the event.
Mr Harmer concluded that: “For me, personally, the few minutes before the start, where you see everybody pinning numbers to the front of their Santa suits, chatting, and getting all excited to start the race, that is my favourite part.
“But I am sure that for the runners the best part is actually finishing and not having to run anymore.”
So, feel free to turn up to MediaCityUK this Sunday to support the festive runners and watch one of the country’s most energetic fun runs.
