The Class of 92 played out a thrilling 4-4 draw against Salford City on Sunday at the Peninsula Stadium.

This was a considerably better result for the 92 lads than their last encounter with Salford City which ended in a 5-1 defeat with only Ryan Giggs netting.

A line up including Manchester United legends such as Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Dwight Yorke and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher certainly made for an exciting experience for all in attendance.

The teams were lead out by members of the Armed Forces and after a minutes silence, the game kicked off.

Both teams performed well in the first half despite an appalling slip up from Carragher and an extremely questionable penalty decision in Salford City’s favour.

A brilliant first half hat trick from ex United and Salford City player Danny Webber plus a neat finish from Dwight Yorke meant goals from Dudley, Dieseruvwe and Redshaw weren’t enough to stop the United legends going in at half time with the lead.

The second half was considerably less exciting. The Class of 92 who were understandably sitting back to play out a 4-3 victory did well in doing so until a late goal from Scott Burton allowed Salford City to draw level.

The game ended 4-4, a respectable result for the Class of 92  from a game which can’t have been easy for a team whose average age is around 43 against a fully fit first team opposition.

The match brought a fantastic atmosphere to the Peninsula Stadium, along with a record attendance of 4,200 and the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson and Dennis Law, who watched together from their executive box.

It certainly seems that Salford City are destined for great things under managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley and with Peter Lim and the Class of 92 as their owners.

Being sat at the top of the league 7 points clear also means a promotion to the Vanarama National League is definitely on the cards.
