THE LOWRY are offering young dancers the chance to get involved with two exciting dance oppurtunites over the next few weeks.
CAT Programme and the Lowry’s Youth Dance Company have begun holding open days and auditions, which will take place until the 4th of June, promising to bring in aspiring dancers, ages 11-16, who wish to pursue a successful career in the North West.
Sally Wyatt, Centre for Advanced Training Manager at The Lowry, expressed how the opportunities that the CAT programme can benefit people in the North West, saying: “It’s a really accessible programme, what is really special about the CAT programme is that it is funded by the department for education and with means tested grants available so young people who otherwise would not be able to access this type of training can come along.”
CATS was established in 2009, across the country, to supply young people with high quality, pre vocational training which will teach them professional dance skills in contemporary dance as well as the ability to work to a high standard with a team.
As one of eleven in the UK, The Lowry aim to encourage the talent of the people in the North West to get involved.
“There is loads of really talented people in the North West and loads of amazing new dance work that is happening as well, what is really nice is being able to work together with other provision that is happening and access young people that might not have known there was a training programme available” said Mrs Wyatt.
