THERE is now less than a month left to register to vote in the Greater Manchester Mayoral election.
The deadline is April 13, and anyone not registered by then will not get a say on who will be Greater Manchester’s first directly elected mayor.
You can register to vote online, and GM Elects claims that it only takes three minutes.
The Greater Manchester mayor will have a number of responsibilities, including representing the people of Greater Manchester in the UK and around the world.
As well as this ambassadorial role, the new mayor will have responsibility for Greater Manchester’s transport budget, including bus services, and will take over the responsibilities of both the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Fire and Rescue Authority.
The election itself will be held on May 4 2017.
The candidates running to be the first Greater Manchester Mayor, at the time of writing, are:
Sean Anstee (Conservative)
Jane Brophy (Liberal Democrat)
Andy Burnham (Labour)
Marcus Farmer (Independent)
Stephen Morris (English Democrat)
Shneur Odze (UKIP)
Will Patterson (Green)
Greater Manchester covers the local authorities of Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan.
