BEHIND closed doors an abandoned Manchester city centre building has come alive this Christmas.
The old London Road Fire Station has been forgotten for 30 years and has been sitting on London Road waiting for someone to make the building remembered again.
This Christmas an event called The Winter Gathering is taking place there complete with stalls, food and an ice rink.
Visits can see the transformation for themselves every evening until December 26.
Entry is free and use of the ice rink is £15 for 45 minutes.
This is not the only transformation the stunning London Road Fire Station building will be getting because The Zetter Group has recently purchased the building and plans to turn it into a boutique hotel.
The Zetter Group has four hotel chains in London and opened its first hotel in 2004.
Three of the hotels are old buildings restored into hotels, keeping the charm and charisma of the city and it now plans to do the same in Manchester.
This will be the first project the group will be taking outside of London and it will be submitting a planning application by the end of this year.
Over the four floors of the London Road Fire Station will have a couple of the Zetter Group’s features such as the Zetter Group’s hotel, a world class cocktail bar, spa and co working space.
