THERE have been rumours and speculations for a while about the prospects of Nintendo releasing a new console – since the Wii U was such a roaring success.

The project name was initially speculated to be ‘Nintendo NX,’ however recent reports have confirmed that the new console will be called ‘Nintendo Switch.’

This week they have not only announced the consoles design and specs – but also the price, release date, available games… everything. Watch the release trailer here.

From keeping the project secretive – to knowing the details of the entire system months later, Nintendo are leaving nothing to the imagination anymore.

So, the big question is – what can we be expecting from the Nintendo Switch?

As far as we know, it will become available to buy as of March 2017 – mere months away, which allows customers to start saving into their money banks for their bank breaking price of £349. Not too extortionate if you consider that it is not just a console, but also comes with pad and handheld as a standard package.

Which then leads us to the specs. The console is literally a combination of the Wii U and the Wii – it has a detachable component which allows the player to ‘Switch’ from the big screen to the handheld within seconds, and continue the same game on the go.

So far we know that the new Legend of Zelda game will be available to play on the console, hopefully due to their similar release dates, the game may be available as a bundle with the console.

Many game-producing conglomerates have been revealed to be working with Nintendo, and we can expect games from Activision to Ubisoft.

Upon hearing the news, there have been mixed reactions from Nintendo fans – some have seen it as a bit of a con. But the rest of us are all waiting with bated breath to see what possibilities may come with this new console.
