Rudy’s Pizza
This Italian pizzeria does one of the best pizzas in Manchester.
Based in Ancoats, they do authentic Italian wood fired pizzas. The pizzas are simple as they don’t have a wind range of choice for toppings, but this lack of option definitely makes up for itself in the quality of them.
A 14inch margarita pizza will set you back just £5.80.
Arndale Food Market
If you are in a big group and you can not all decide on one place to eat for lunch, the Arndale Food Market is perfect. It has lots of stalls that serve everything from Thai food to Italian.
All the stalls use lovely fresh ingredients, and with it being right in the heart of the Arndale Centre you don’t have travel too far off your shopping route to get some good food.
Chango’s Burrito Bar
Based on Oxford Road, Chango’s Burrito Bar is always buzzing with students looking for tasty cheap lunch.
The burritos are so fresh and taste absolutely amazing. The lunch deal only costs £4.95, and includes a chicken or vegetable burrito, nachos and a drink. Nothing here will cost you more than a fiver.
Kukoos
In the middle of the student hub on Oxford Road, Kukoos in a modern canteen. It serves Moroccan, Lebanese and Indian street food. All dishes are well portioned and contain lots exotic spices that get your taste buds tingling.
Their most popular dishes are the salads which are priced at £3.50. There is nothing on the menu above £5.
Common
Common has the liveliest atmosphere out of any. No surprise as it is located in the quirky Northern Quarter of Manchester.
Its customer favourites are the spicy chilli and the falafel and halloumi open kebab. However it does also serve a wide range of classy sandwiches and burgers, nothing costing more than £8.50.
Trove
Trove is a family run café/bakery. Its busiest time is Brunch as they do fantastic food and homemade juices that fits the appetite at this time.
A favourite is the eggs benedict which is accompanied by a perfect hollandaise sauce, costing only £6.
Earth Café
If you are vegan or vegetarian and looking for an affordable place to eat, then Earth Café is definitely the place for you. This café prides itself on serving customers cheap healthy food which is also of good quality.
Its interior is plain, but the food definitely makes up for that. Alongside the fresh salad bar you can also order a variety of hot food, such as a vegetarian burger which is made to order. Earth café is definitely the best vegetarian restaurant in Manchester.
Umami
Umami is probably the best Japanese take out restaurant you will find in Manchester. It serves noodle dishes, pan Asian curries and also some delicious sushi.
As Umami is based on Oxford Road, it is extremely student friendly with the atmosphere, the fact it serves cheap booze and the prices. Two things from the lunch menu would cost you around £6 and nothing here will cost you above £10.

Bagel Nash
Although it is a chain, Bagel Nash (which is located in the Arndale) is one of the best places to grab a sandwich in Manchester.
You can pick from a variety and bagels and toppings, and choose to either sit in or if you are in a rush – take out. A meal deal, which includes a bagel, some crisps and a drink will set you back just less than £5.
Almost Famous
Almost Famous is by far the most famous burger bar in Manchester. The restaurant has energetic feel with a cool interior.
There is lots of weirdly named burgers to choice from. Most of which come jam packet full of meat and vegetables, some of which are so large that it would be better to share. The only downside is that none of the dishes come with fries, meaning you have to order them separately adding to the price. However the fries here come severed in a large basket that is definitely made for sharing.
The top price you will pay for burger here is £10.50.
