WAREHOUSE Project is back, with the series making a long anticipated return to the clubbing calendar this weekend.

Celebrating their 11th anniversary, the club nights will bring seasoned DJs and live acts, such as M.I.A and Mercury Prize 2016 winner Skepta, to Manchester’s Store Street.

Our reporter Alicia Boukersi takes a look at some of the standouts from the opening parties…

Mura Masa

On Friday, 19-year-old Mura Masa will make his debut at Store Street and will definitely be an act to look out for after his live performance on the WHP Stage at Sónar By Night in Barcelona last month.

The electronic producer and songwriter began his music career at the age of 15 before gaining popularity with his EP, which was picked up by a number of different BBC1 DJs.

His track ‘Lovesick‘ then reached number one on the Spotify viral charts in both the UK and USA.

Mura Masa, his real name is Alex Crossan, is now on the verge of mainstream fame after collaborating with Sound Of 2015 runner-up Shura on ‘Love For That‘, which was named the Hottest Record in the World by Radio 1’s Annie Mac.

Jungle – DJ set

Following a remarkable live performance at the end of Warehouse Project 2015 series, XL Recordings’ Jungle return for one night only on Friday – playing a DJ set which is envisaged to be a crowd favourite.

The group, comprised of London natives Tom McFarland and Josh Lloyd-Watson, are known for their modern funk and soul, which fuses instrumental flourishes and neutered vocals.

Their first single ‘The Heat‘ was released in 2013 and was described as “euphoric, but also mannered” by The Guardian.

Jungle’s self-titled debut album did particularly well, scoring a high position in the UK album charts, which was certified gold.

Rumours of a second album dropping soon are prevalent online – with some saying that the group could perform one or two of those new tracks this weekend.

SG Lewis

SG Lewis will also be performing in Manchester on the Friday after a whirlwind summer touring North America.

The music producer, hailing from Liverpool, specialises in electronic music with emotive narratives and deep club thumps.

His debut EP ‘Shivers’ was well received, and the musician – real name Sam Lewis – was soon nominated as NME’s “Brand New for 2016”.

His remix of Jessie Ware’s ‘You and I‘ is a 120 beats-per-minute song ready for Warehouse; the perfect number for Store Street.

His standout track ‘Warm‘ is a beautiful chilled out dance track, and Lewis has managed to win over A-list musicians, such as Pharrell Williams who referred to him as a “white boy with soul”.

Eats Everything

Daniel Pearce, the alias of Eats Everything, is no stranger to the Warehouse Project – and he’s returning for the third time this Saturday with tracks that are expected to set Store Street alight.

The producer and DJ from Bristol came to prominence in 2011 with the release of ‘Entrance Song‘ on Pets Records.

His mixes of house music, bass and techno are impressive and have won him the ‘Best British DJ’ in DJ Magazine, as well as Resident Advisor’s ‘Top 100 DJs Poll’ coming in at number 13.

Few producers in the history of dance music have made such a rapid and far-reaching impact on the electronic music scene as Eats Everything, and his set is sure to please the crowds.

Adam Beyer

Adam Beyer is taking to Warehouse on Saturday and fans are already salivating at the prospect.

The Swedish techno producer and DJ is enjoying global club fame with his modern blend of tech.

Beginning with the debut ‘Drumcode 1‘ released on Planet Rhythm’s record label, Beyer’s production highlights including his remixes of Underworld ‘Push Upstairs‘ and Morgan ‘Flowerchild‘ – tracks that are synonymous with all that is exciting about techno right now.

His sell-out show at the Awakenings Festival was formidable and proved exactly why he received the DJ Award for Best Minimal.

Manchester…Beyer is on his way!

Lauren Lo Sung

One of the only female DJs at this year’s Warehouse Project, Lauren Lo Sung is making sure she’s filling the niche in the market.

Her track ‘On My Mind‘ is eclectic and a dance classic, but she also delves into hip-hop, groove and hard techno.

Having previously performed with the legendary Carl Cox at Ministry of Sound in Ibiza, Sung has shown she has potential to get people on their feet, and she will definitely be one to watch come this weekend.
