SHADOW Home Secretary Andy Burnham has been selected as the Labour Party candidate in the Greater Manchester mayoral election.
The Leigh MP contested the nomination against interim mayor Tony Lloyd and Bury South MP Ivan Lewis.
As part of the Manchester devolution deal, the Greater Manchester Mayor will be handed more powers including more control over local transport and £6billion of health spending.
The election will take place in 2017.
