STOCKPORT County and Curzon Ashton will both be hoping to come out on top in the last game of the Vanarama National League North season at Edgeley Park on Saturday (KO 15:00 BST).
Curzon will have to be torn away from home territory as they take the short 20 minute journey to Edgeley Park.
County shouldn’t be underestimated having not lost a match since April 2. Whilst Curzon Ashton are undefeated in the last six games – leading all the way back to March 19.
The teams will be fighting for who will take ninth place as the Nash are just two points behind Jim Gannon’s County side.
The reverse fixture, at Tameside Stadium, back in October ended goalless – and it was familiar tale for County under then manager Neil Young as they dominated large spells of the game but were unable to find the crucial breakthrough.
County have been in relatively poor form in the past few games at home, winning only one in four of the home matches.
However the Hatters will be in a fighting spirit after winning the Cheshire Senior Cup against Tranmere on Tuesday. John Marsden gave County the lead in the second half, before the Merseysiders equalised late on. Substitute Obi Anoruo won the game for County with a header late in added time.
Stockport County may not have had the season they hoped for but the team and manager, Gannon, will be looking to end the season on a high note.
Curzon Ashton will be attempting to get rid of their ‘draw specialists’ label after seeing five of their last six matches end level.
The Nash have had a successful first season after being promoted from the Evo-Stik Premier Division last season – something which manager, John Flanagan, will be proud of.
For both teams, it’s all to play for as both seem to have a fully fit squad.
This can give both sides top goal scorers, Marsden and Niall Cummins respectively, the chance to extend their record for the 2015/16 season.
Anyone attending the match also has the opportunity to donate to Strokeinformation.
Staff at Edgeley Park will be having a charity bucket collection for the cause and will be encouraging people to donate as generously as they can.
